Arkansas has made great strides in recent years, and has been nationally recognized as a leader in nursing home quality. Arkansas boasts the lowest national percentage of acute pain patients. In a recent regional comparison – including Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas – Arkansas was the only state scoring at or above average in all 15 areas. Arkansas was the first state to achieve 100 percent participation in the Advancing Excellence in America’s Nursing Homes initiative, set forth by the American Health Care Association.
